Isaac Scott Hathaway-The First African American to Design a US Coin

One day a young boy went to the museum with is mom. He looked at the artistic sculpture and wondered why there was no pieces representing African Americans. It was then that he decided that he would become an Artist and create sculpture pieces of African Americans. His name was Issac Scott Hathaway.

Issac Scott Hathaway was born an American Artist born in 1872. He became and teacher and create many pieces of Art. He was chosen to create the designs for both the Booker T. Washington and George Washington Carver Commemorative coins. Read the Wikepedia article about his life.
