On Februry 1, 2017 The US Postal Service released the Dorothy Height Postage Stamp. This Civil Rights and Woman Rights activist was born in 1912 and at the wonderful age of 98 died in 2010. Read more about her accomplishments and life.

The painting is based on a photograph shot in 2009 by Lateef Mangum.  The artist who captured the inspiration from this photograph is  African American Artist Thomas Blackshear 11. He created a gouche and acrylic portriat.
