The Booker T. Washington Commemorative coin was issued in 1946-1951. Booker T. Washington was the first African American to be featured on a Commemorative coin.

Description on the Coin
Front: The bust of Booker T. Washington is positioned in the center of the coin. The date isĀ  at the left. Around the rim, “Booker T. Washington” and “United States of America – Half Dollar – E. Pluribus Unum”.

Reverse: At the top of the coin is the image of the New York University His all of Fame with the words below “From Slave Cabin to Hall of Fame – In God We Trust – Franklin County VA”. Around the rim, “Booker T. Washington Birthplace Memorial – Liberty”.
